Like St John the Baptist, Jesus would be put to death by human hand. Jesus would never allow Himself to be caught up a culture of death.  He came to bring life into the world, and, to invite all people to join Him in living and sharing the Culture of Life. Such a culture allows us fully celebrate the life we were given at our baptism, the life of God.  The Culture of Life chooses the way of the Lord over all other possibilities. It considers how each decision best reflects the Presence of the Lord in our world and at work in our lives.  St Paul tells us today that no matter what the world may throw at us, nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  It was her commitment to the Culture of Life that led St Mother Theresa to care for the poorest of the poor.  It is the commitment to the Culture of Life that transforms our just reaching out to others into an acceptance of them as reflection of the image of God, their share in His divinity as we do.  We have been called to Life and in life we choose Christ, we choose His Way and the Culture of Life He lays open before us.  In doing so we can find true happiness and peace both now and forever.

… Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light!
