CAFOD Family Fast Day

Family Fast Day – 6 March

This Lent, CAFOD’s Family Fast Day on Friday 6th March is an opportunity for us all to help some of the most marginalised of our sisters and brothers. By eating a simple meal in solidarity and giving what we save, we can both remember and support the life-saving work being done every day for the world’s poorest families.  So, please collect a Family Fast Day envelope from church this week or make a small donation in the retiring collection.

Thank you.

World Day of Prayer

Please come along to Our Lady Immaculate on Friday 6th March at 2:00 pm to join in the World Day of Prayer. This tradition started in the nineteenth century, and we’re very fortunate in this village to have a strong ecumenical movement and good links with the other churches. The theme this year is “Rise! Take your mat, and walk!” (John 5: 2-9)

Preparation for First Holy Communion 2020

Sessions will begin on Saturday 4th April and following sessions will run on 11th April, 18th April, 25th April and the 9th May. Each session will be from 9.00 am until 12.00 pm.

First confession will take place after the session on the 9th May after the 12.00pm mass, First Holy Communion on 10th May and the May procession on Sunday 17th May.

If your child is in Year 3 at school or above and you would like them to participate please contact Wanda by email on wandamb@gmail.com.

Year of the Word: The God Who Speaks

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales has dedicated 2020 as a year focussed on the Bible and “The God Who Speaks”. You are invited to take home a copy of the Year of the Word: The God Who Speaks leaflet, available after Mass, which is full of helpful information to encourage you to study the scriptures. If you’re not sure where to start, you’ll find a link to the daily mass readings and a guide to Lectio Divina on our website: https://www.lunevalleycatholics.org.uk/prayer-and-liturgy/lectio-divina/.

The Xaverian Missionaries’ next “God who Speaks” event will be next Saturday 7th March and the theme is Women in the Bible, given the following day it is International Women’s Day. It will be led by Kate Wilkinson, who is the Lay Chaplain at All Hallows Catholic High School Preston. See posters at the back of church or the newsletter page on our website for details. https://www.lunevalleycatholics.org.uk/category/parish-newsletter/
