The God Who Speaks

In light of the Bishop’s Conference focus on the “God Who Speaks”, we Xaverian Missionaries are hosting a series of events to mark this special year:

February 8th Liturgy and the Bible

March 7th Women in the Bible

May 16th Easter and Pentecost

June 13th Jesus on the Margins

September 5th Reading Scripture as a Family

October 17th Scripture and Mission

November 14th St. Guido Maria Conforti and Scripture

All the events take place on Saturdays from 10.00am until 2.00pm with different organisations helping prepare and facilitate the days. We are hoping that different voices will help open Sacred Scripture to us and the wider Church.

Yours, Fr. Patrick Duffy, sx

Rededication of England as the ‘Dowry of Mary’ Sunday, 29 March, 2020

This is an event of National importance for the Catholic Church in England.  In advance of this date Monsignor John Armitage and the team from the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, are visiting each of the Catholic Cathedrals in England with the statue of Our Lady of Walsingham.  Dates for visits to St Peter’s Cathedral, Lancaster are from Thursday 6 February at 6pm through to Saturday midday.  There will be a timetable of Holy Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Devotions, Talks on Marian Devotion and an Exhibition.  It is hoped that over the period of the visit parishes and schools will organise visits.

Monsignor John Armitage has asked people to prepare spiritually for the rededication by praying the Angelus every day after parish Masses – you may, of course, pray the Angelus at other times if you wish.
