The Catholic Churches in the Lune ValleyWelcome to the Catholic Parishes of St Mary, Hornby and St Joseph, Kirkby Lonsdale
Mass During Lockdown
The guidance on the new lockdown has been published by the Government. According to what they have published, public worship can continue as long as we follow our guidelines and do not mingle both inside and outside the church.
The Government at present has said that it is a legitimate reason to leave your homes to come to Mass. However, if you are in the shielding category please follow guidance from the NHS and Masses will continue to be live-streamed regardless.
Full details can be found here: STAY AT HOME
You must register your attendance when you come in, use hand sanitiser, wear a face covering in Church, and keep at least 2 metres’ distance from anyone not in your household or “bubble”.
A group of parishioners meets on Zoom to pray the Holy Rosary every Wednesday at 6:00 pm. You are warmly invited to join us, either to participate or simply to listen. Please try to join the Zoom meeting at 5:50 pm.
HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
“In your charity please pray for repose of the soul of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. St. Mary’s Hornby will be open for this purpose over the weekend where candles may be lit. May he rest in peace. Amen”
We will offer a Requiem Mass in the Parish for the repose of the soul of His Royal Highness. Please check back here for details.
St Mary’s Catholic Church, Hornby
St Mary’s Catholic Church in Hornby is the home of our Parish Priest, Father Michael Docherty. It’s the oldest, but smallest, of our three churches.
St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Kirkby Lonsdale
St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kirkby Lonsdale is tucked away in Back Lane, behind the Market Square. It’s well worth the search!
Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Church, Caton
Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Church in Caton is a chapel of ease for the Hornby parish. It’s sometimes called the Railway Church, not just because it’s in Station Road.
