After the Ascension of Jesus, the disciples returned to the Upper Room and stayed there together in prayer with Mary. They did not know what the future had in store for them. Prayer had been a necessary preparation for every important event in the life of Jesus. Whenever Jesus entered into prayer, He came out with results. Before His public ministry He fasted and prayed for 40 days and nights. Before He entered into His passion, at Gethsemane, He prayed and was given the strength to undergo His Passion. So, the disciples did as Jesus had done, they followed His example. We must do the same.  The future is still uncertain; so, we too must pray.  We have not lost zeal and enthusiasm for the faith due to the events in life that we find difficult to understand. So, it is Upper Room time for us; a time to refuel our lives with the power, life and love of the Holy Spirit.  If we, like the disciples, pray we shall be restored, renewed and rebranded by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost day and so be ready to face whatever the future holds for us.

           prayer is always fruitful!
