Psalm 100 helps us pray the message of today’s Gospel.  A message, given by our Lord, centuries after the psalm was written. We are His people, the sheep of His flock.  We hear the voice of the Good Shepherd, and follow Him.  There are many voices in the world calling us to follow them.  We must listen carefully for the voice of our Lord, our shepherd. Voices within ourselves may tell us that we are not good enough.  These are not the voice of the Lord.  They are the voice of temptation, telling us not to get out of the mess we might fall into, but instead say ‘stay in it.’  Something within saying, ‘Give up.’  But the voice of the Lord says, “No, don’t give up.  Get up!”   Let’s listen carefully to the voice of the Lord.  Christ is calling you to new adventures in holiness, to a new relationship with Him.  We know the voice of God and we know where He wants to take us.  We pray today for the courage to follow Him, no matter how far we may feel we are from Him, He is always near us.

… He made us, we belong to Him, we are His people, the sheep of His flock.
