Urgent

Homeless people on the streets of Lancaster will really appreciate hot water bottles. I’ve spoken to several and they were delighted. McDonalds, among other places, will fill them and they’re open 24/7.

It is a fallacy to think no one is sleeping rough. Some of the available places close at weekends owing to a shortage of staff. B& M do hotties for a couple of pounds. Please help these poor souls to get a little physical warmth day and night in this bitter weather. Bring them to Church & leave them at the back. I’ll distribute them. Any offers of help will be appreciated. Chris D.

Christmas flowers at Caton

If you would like to give a Christmas plant to decorate the church please bring them to Mass on Saturday 21st December. If this time is not possible please contact Christine Griffiths.

Knitted Bible Exhibition

From now till the end of January, St Joseph’s Church, Skerton, is hosting the nationally-acclaimed Knitted Bible Exhibition. Thirty Three biblical scenes knitted to tell the story of salvation, from Adam and Eve, to Noah’s Ark, to Daniel in the Lion’s Den, and Jonah and the whale, to all the beautiful stories of the Gospel. This is perfect for families, for young and old alike, and a great way to begin our year dedicated to the Word of God. The church is open every day after weekday or weekend Masses or on Saturday 11 and 18 January, 11am-3pm.

Rosary Prayers at Caton

Since there will be no Mass at Caton on Tuesdays, a group of us is getting together each week at 6:00 pm to pray the Rosary in the porch. Beads and prayer cards are available – please join us.

Apology

Barbara apologises for her mis-spelling of Mgr Hypher’s name in last week’s newsletter.
