Sacrament of Reconciliation

In this season of Advent, we are reminded of God’s love for us, shown in the impossible act of God becoming incarnate, taking on human flesh, to reach us in love and save us from our worst abilities. If you wish to make an Advent confession, Mgr Hypher has kindly offered to make the sacrament available to us on Saturday 14th December as follows:
Caton: 9:30 – 10:30 am, Kirkby Lonsdale 11:15 – noon, followed by Mass, Hornby: 2:00 – 3:00 pm

Red Boxes

Many thanks for your generous donations for the Missions. We have collected over £670. If anyone still has a red box that they would like emptied please contact Christine Griffiths.

Metanoia Advent Events

To help you make the most of this Advent and keep some time aside for the Lord whilst we await His coming, we would like to offer you a couple of events:
‘The God Who Speaks’ Advent Series begins Thursday 5th December. As you may be aware, this coming year the Church in England and Wales is marking a year on the Word entitled ‘The God Who Speaks’. Throughout the year, we will be offering a variety of talks and other initiatives to help us all engage with this theme and hear from our loving God. We will be starting with three fantastic guest speakers who, for the three Thursdays in Advent, will help us to explore the Incarnation – the most profound way that God has chosen to speak to His people. 7.30 – 9.30pm, St Wilfrid’s Parish Centre, Preston. ALL WELCOME!
Thursday 12th December – ‘Hebrews 1: In our time God has spoken to us through His Son’ by Fr Eamonn Mulcahy CSSp who is a Spiritan or Holy Ghost Missionary originally from Manchester. He has extensive missionary experience, spending several years lecturing in Systematic Theology in Nairobi, Kenya whilst also being heavily involved in education projects in the infamous slum of Kibera.
Thursday 19th December – ‘Liturgy: God speaks through the Advent and Christmas Liturgies’ by Maria Hall who, following many years as a teacher, is now a consultant in Pastoral Liturgy, Music and RE. Maria has a Masters Degree in Theology specialising in Liturgy and is currently Director of Music at St Wilfrid’s, Preston.
DOXA: Glory, Dignity, Honour – Reaching Out!! Friday 13th December 7.30-10.30pm at St Wilfrid’s. Following on from our hugely successful Lent outreach, this Advent we will be inviting people in from the streets to light a candle and join us in prayer. There will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with praise and worship here in our beautiful Church with the Sacrament of Reconciliation also available. There will be refreshments in the Narthex and teams reaching out on the streets. Please come and pray with us for the whole time or to drop in for a little while
If you can commit to a particular half hour slot to pray in Church, offer refreshments, or go out onto the streets then please let us know so that we can ensure we have the whole time covered
If you would like any further information about these or any of our events, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We hope to see you soon! God bless, Ruth White | Project Director
