Be sure: your liberation…

The days of Advent are some of the darkest of the year:  days of the least sunlight.  Yet Advent is the season of hope because it reminds us that the dark days will indeed come to an end, and the light of Christ will triumph.  Hatred, racism, indifference to human suffering and such negative notions all contribute to the dark times of the world; these too will end.  We, as individuals and as member of the Church, are called to transform hatred into love, darkness into light.  This is not simply our Advent task but our daily one.  Advent assures us that God’s will, will be done as long as we first welcome Him into our lives.   We must begin with ourselves: we have to surrender any negative feelings we may harbour towards anyone; for if we allow them to remain within us we are putting ourselves out into a spiritual winter.  We have to fight off such cold and darkness by embracing the warmth of God’s love and the light of His life. We cannot allow past hurts and present prejudices to destroy opportunities of bringing light to those in darkness. We must allow God’s love and mercy to flow through us.

…is at hand!
